About us

Welcome to the Whiddon Mission Community

St Michael’s belongs to a family of Anglican (Church of England) churches called the Whiddon Mission Community, in the Diocese of Exeter. The area we serve extends from the North East corner of Dartmoor through to the rolling hills of  West Devon (an area of over 100 square miles!). Every one of our ancient church buildings is open daily, providing sanctuary and hospitality and worship for all. You are welcome wherever you travel from, or whatever you may believe, because for Jesus there are no outsiders. From many different walks of life and traditions, we are learning together how to ‘act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God’ and you are most welcome to join us.

Our mission community comprises the ancient parishes of  South Zeal & South Tawton, Throwleigh, Gidleigh, Drewsteignton, Spreyton, Hittisleigh, Chagford, Sampford Courtenay, North Tawton, Bondleigh and Honeychurch.

This is an exciting time for us as, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we learn more ways of serving and engaging with our rural communities and visitors alike:

Communicating the good news of Jesus
and demonstrating care for the vulnerable,
our communities and the wider creation

here in this beautiful part of Devon.
